Yachts For Sale Blog Podcast

As we travel to yachting hotspots filming super yachts for the ”Yachts For Sale Blog” YouTube channel we often meet extraordinary people. Sometimes Captains, sometimes brokers, sometimes even the owners themselves.
This podcast opens a window into the amazing world of super yachts, giving insight into the men and women who make up the fabric of the industry and asking how they got there and what makes them stay!

In this episode, Katia and I sit down to talk through the GENESIS shoot — how it came together, what was involved, and a few of the details you don’t always think about when watching the finished video. We also revisit the yacht itself, a 43m performance build that stood out for a number of reasons, and end up exploring a simple but interesting question: how far does 600 nautical miles from Monaco actually take you? A relaxed conversation around the shoot, the yacht, and the reality of putting these videos together.

Just after the Palm Beach Boat Show, there has been no shortage of talking points in the yachting world. In this vlog, Katia Damborsky and I sit down to discuss some of the biggest recent headlines, including the announcement of a new 82-metre Bilgin superyacht, reportedly commissioned by one of the most recognisable repeat yacht owners in the industry. We also look at what this project means for Bilgin as a shipyard, and why the relationship between owner and builder matters so much on a new build of this scale.
We also chat about:
• the new Abeking & Rasmussen concept with Reymond Langton
• Carlos Alcaraz buying a new Sunreef power catamaran
• the first look at the former Flying Fox after her quiet sale and repaint
• viewer questions about yacht charter tipping and why those figures are often misunderstood
• what we have coming up next on the channel, including new yacht tours and behind-the-scenes projects
As always, the aim is to go a little deeper than the headline and give some real industry perspective from people who work in this world every day. If you enjoy yacht news, superyacht insight, and conversations that go beyond the obvious, this one is for you. Please leave your thoughts in the comments, especially on yacht naming, charter etiquette, or which of these stories you found most interesting.

In this episode, Katia and David sit down for a yacht-world catch-up - from our favourite shoots of the year, to standout yacht designs, to a viewer question we hear more and more: Are modern sailing yachts basically fully automated… or do crew still have to properly “sail” them?
We also dive into December’s big talking point: Lürssen’s new 117m “Boardwalk” and the mystery around her styling, plus the design that caught our eye this year — Feadship “Pi” and that transom staircase detail. In this video - Favourite video shoots of the year (including Azimut “H”) - Favourite yacht designs (Feadship “Pi”) - Yacht news: Lürssen 117m “Boardwalk” + “Boardwalk” name history - Viewer Q&A: how automated are sailing yachts in real life?

Katia Damborsky (aka Instagram's @theyachtwriter) is one of the most knowledgable people I have ever met as far as the yachting industry is concerned. Formerly the Superyacht Editor at BOAT INTERNATIONAL she has her finger on yachting's pulse and every month reviews some of the more interesting stories.
In this, our first episode, she also fielded a question from a viewer of the Yachts For Sale Youtube channel who asked the question "Why are Mangusta Yachts so EXPENSIVE?"

I sat down with Captain Liam Devlin of "UNBRIDLED" last year during the Antigua Charter Show and we had a fascinating discussion about his entry into the yacht Captain business and his views on how a successful charter yacht should be run.
His approach to dealing with difficult charter guests and his attention to the mental health of his crew is truly inspiring. It's little wonder that "UNBRIDLED" has such a successful charter record!
